Attendance Information
We highly encourage all our families to use ParentVUE for full-day absences. Reports submitted through Parent VUE are securely sent to the attendance office and do not require a follow-up email or call.
How to Report an Absence Through ParentVUE
Partial-Day Absences (Late Arrival or Early Dismissal): For late arrivals, early dismissals, or to update a previously submitted attendance report, please email the Attendance Office LangleyHSAttendance@fcps.edu
Checking Out a Student Without a Note or a Sent Email to the Attendance Office: If your student does not have a written note, or the parent has not sent an email to the Attendance Office
- A parent or guardian must come into the building and sign them out at the Attendance Office.

- Please allow up to 30 minutes for the checkout process if it is not prearranged.
Senior Portraits - Last Call!
Legacy Studios is returning to Langley on December 11 & December 12 to photograph seniors who have not yet taken a school photo. This is the VERY LAST CHANCE to be included in the yearbook. Schedule appointments here.
Attention LHS Transfer Families Past and Present!
We invite you to a fun and festive Potluck Lunch Social at the LHS Career Center on Friday, December 12, from 11 AM to 1 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow former Transfer Families and to welcome those new to our community.

Volunteer FCPS: Keeping Students Safe All volunteers—including field trip chaperones, PTSA, and activity helpers—must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. Some roles also require a background check. Get started by creating a profile, watching the short orientation, and completing the application.

Free Narcan Training -- December 18
The Safe Community Coalition is pleased to offer FREE Narcan Training at the McLean Community Center on Thursday, December 18th at 7:00 pm. Participants will learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. At the completion of the training, participants will receive ready-to-use NARCAN. Anyone over 16 is welcome to attend (those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). Register here
Action Required! Update Your Permission for Google Tools
Google recently made changes to how educational applications are managed and accessed on the Chrome Browser and Chromebooks. Many applications are moving from the Chrome Web Store to the Google Play Store.
To ensure your student(s) can continue accessing all approved instructional tools, FCPS has updated its digital consent platform to include both the Chrome Web Store and the Google Play Store.
Please review and provide your consent for these two new options through our easy-to-use Parent Digital Consent system:

Manage Your Child’s Screen Time on FCPS Devices
FCPS offers the Lightspeed Parent Portal to help you manage screen time on your child's FCPS device at home. With a Parent Portal account, you can control your child’s access to YouTube and pause website browsing during after-school hours.Please note that parent controls are active only during after-school hours, defined as Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. (including student holidays) and all day Saturday and Sunday.
If you haven't signed up for the portal yet, use the link at the bottom of your weekly Lightspeed Online Student Activity Report email. To learn more, please visit the Lightspeed Parent Portal page on the FCPS website.

FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.
Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS Parent VUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange emergency child care if needed.

FCPS has partnered with Hazel Health to help eliminate barriers to quality mental health care services for all high school students, at no cost to families. Therapy sessions with Hazel Health are a safe space and are private and confidential.
