Starting this quarter, Justice High School will return to the practice of reporting interim grades at the approximate halfway quarter mark to ensure grades are as accurate as possible for parents and students to see their progress mid quarter, providing time for intervention prior to the end of the quarter. Teachers will send progress reports home no later than the end of the day this coming Friday, December 12. Should you not receive a progress report, please communicate with your child's assistant principal.
Within FCPS, and the state of Virginia, the impact of cell phone use and student engagement in the classrooms and socially has been significant. FCPS has a cell phone policy stating that students are to have their phones “off and away” with the exception of the cafeteria when a student has lunch. This policy of “off and away” includes the hallways.
Our administrators and security team members are out in the hallways during class transitions and throughout class time. To foster a welcoming environment, since the first day of school we have been providing constant reminders to students when we see them accessing their phones during class transitions. Beginning today, administrators will no longer provide reminders and will follow the same protocols we follow in our classrooms. We've been reminding students of this throughout last week. If a student is accessing their phone in the hallway, an administrator will place the phone in a secure setting with the student’s name and ID # and the student will be able to pick it up from the main office at the end of the day. This SR&R violation of the cell phone policy will also be documented in the student’s discipline record similar to any other cell phone violation. Please click here for more information on the FCPS cell phone policy.
Please review this policy with your child. As a reminder, if a child ever needs to make a phone call for emergency purposes, they may go to the main office.
We also want to thank the majority of our students who have complied with the phone and technology policy throughout the school year.
Thank you for your support.
Join us for Quarter 2 Parent University on Wednesday, December 10th, from 6–8 PM in the Justice Cafeteria as we dive into the exciting season of Academic Advising! Students are exploring their class options for the next school year, and we want to empower parents and guardians with the knowledge to support them — graduation requirements, course pathways, and strategies to spark your child’s engagement in learning. We will have raffle prizes, helpful resources, and plenty of opportunities to connect. Together, let’s strengthen our school-to-family partnership and share the responsibility of your child’s success!
We will also share important information about the WIDA ACCESS for English learners test.
This is the yearly English test that all Multilingual Learners in Virginia take. The test shows how your child is growing in English in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
We encourage families to learn more about WIDA score levels and how they guide your child's educational path. We look forward to supporting you and your student!
We have refrigeration for fresh fruit and produce at the Wolf Shack! A HUGE thank you to our community for donating to purchase the new refrigerator for the Wolf Shack, as well as for the December break family food bags. Our community is so generous and your donations have made a real and tangible impact on our students and their families. We absolutely have the BEST donors and volunteers!
Our partner, Food for Others, will be providing monthly distributions of fresh fruit and vegetables to help stock the refrigerator! Wolf Shack volunteers will also be packing 150 pre-packed family food bags on Thursday, December 11th to be distributed the week of December 15th to assist students throughout the break. If you would like a family food bag for the school break, please have your student contact student services or stop by the Wolf Shack and grab a bag after school on Wednesday the 16th or Thursday the 17th (3-5pm).
You can support the Wolf Shack anytime:
- Make a financial donation which allows us to fill urgent needs (jhsptsa.org/wolfshackfund)
- Drop-off or have any donation delivered to the front office of JHS (just label with "PTSA Wolf Shack")
- Purchase directly from our Amazon wish-list and deliver straight to the school (jhsptsa.org/wolfshackwishlist)
- Organize a food and toiletry drive through your community, church, clubs and/or service organizations
- Volunteer for our weekly open hours, packing the family food bags and/or for food distribution pick-ups and unloading (jhsptsa.org/wolfshacksignup)
It's getting cold out there! That means it's time to help Justice students bundle up. If you would like to donate new or gently used winter coats, hoodies and outerwear, please drop off in the front office of Justice High School and mark your donations with "Wolf Shack." All donations are very much appreciated!
The Wolf Shack is our PTSA-sponsored in-school food and resource pantry available to Justice students. In the Wolf Shack, we provide FREE snacks, food, toiletries, clothing and other essential resources for ALL students. Our Wolf Shack volunteers serve over 1,000 students a month and are open after school from 3-5pm on Wednesdays & Thursdays every week in Room B27 between the Black Box Theater and the Little Theater. The Wolf Shack can also be accessed anytime through teachers, social workers and counselors.

A new Graduation Status tool is available in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. The tool helps parents and students monitor and track their progress in meeting graduation requirements.
Graduation Status includes progress toward the Standard or Advanced Studies diploma for high school students and middle school students who have enrolled in one or more high school courses. This new feature is available in addition to the course history and unofficial transcript options in ParentVUE and StudentVUE.
To view the Graduation Status section, which is only available for students who have enrolled in high school courses, please take the following steps:
- Login to your SIS ParentVUE/StudentVUE account.
- Go to “Course History.”
- Go to “Graduation Status” and toggle “on.”
For questions about graduation requirements, please contact your child’s school counselor. Learn more about ParentVUE.
As academic advising season approaches, families are encouraged to explore the many pathways available for rising and current high school students.
Learn more about FCPS academies, specialized programs, and high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses at the Pathway Fair on Wednesday, December 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at Robinson Secondary School.
FCPS central office leaders and academy counselors will share insights about CTE programs, pathways, and opportunities across the school division.
Find additional information, including dates for academy open houses. Contact Bonnie Wannett with questions.

Volunteer FCPS allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities across the division. It helps ensure a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using our visitor kiosk.
Individuals can complete a volunteer orientation on the Volunteer FCPS website. View Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels
Due to the overwhelming response from our community, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.
As part of the application, all volunteers sign a statement confirming they have not been convicted of violent crimes, crimes against children, or other serious misconduct.
Field trip chaperone opportunities are now classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check).
