The Weekly Mustang Newsletter

Greetings McNair Students and Families,

Happy Holidays! Thank you to all of our Mustangs, staff members, families, and our community for their amazing support this year.  We are honored and humbled to serve such a wonderful school community.  In addition, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our McNair PTA and our dedicated volunteers for their invaluable support throughout our 10 Days of Winter Cheer that was for our wonderful staff. We are particularly grateful for the generous donations received and commend the PTA for their partnership and support with organizing these special days for our employees.

In addition, we had an amazing time at our STEAM Night last week! Thank you to all of the families who joined us for a night of exploration and excitement in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. A special thanks to Ms. Burg, our AART, for organizing this incredible event.

Furthermore, we are excited for our school-wide morning meeting on Thursday, followed by our annual Winter Sing-Along this Friday. The Winter Sing-Along will be a magical event, celebrating the holidays and traditions from around the world of the winter months with students and staff. Thank you to our music teachers, Mr. Kelly and Ms. Fernandez, for their outstanding preparations!

As the winter break approaches, we wish all of our families a safe, joyful, and restful holiday season! The break is a great time to slow down and enjoy quality time together. We encourage you to incorporate fun, everyday learning experiences into your family activities. Some considerations may be the following:

  • Reading Time: Spend time reading together. Let your child choose what to read to build literacy skills and a love for books!

  • Kitchen Math & Science: Invite your child to help you cook or bake. Measuring ingredients introduces early math concepts (fractions, volume), and discussing changes (melting, mixing) is simple science!

  • World Explorers: Challenge your child to find numbers, letters, and words in the world around them. Look for them on street signs, license plates, store fronts, and food labels. This turns everyday outings into exciting scavenger hunts!

  • Shopping Adventures: When you visit the grocery store, have your child help you find items on the list. If you pay with cash, let them help you count the items and discuss how much change you should get back. This is hands-on practice with counting and money skills!

We would like to wish each of you a safe, healthy, and joyous winter break with family and friends. Wishing you an abundance of hope and happiness this holiday season and into the New Year!

Looking forward to seeing you on January 5, 2026, Mustangs!
