THE RESONANCE REPORT

Hey there (unknown)!

Here we are with the final Resonance Report of the year!

This is a great time to be sentimental and reflect on the past year. On personal goals and achievements. It is also a time to think of the future and new projects you want to explore.

So take some time to see what you have achieved this year. It is probably a lot more than you think. Also take time to lay down some plans to achieve even more in the coming year too.

Here at Audible Genius we want to give a huge thanks to all of you that have come a long with us on the ride this year. To those who have utilised Syntorial, Primer and Building Blocks, we salute you!

We hope you all have a restful year end and a great start to the new year!

Let’s get into some fantastic music making tips and tricks!

1 -> Tip Of The Biweek

Sometimes the sounds you have made can be a bit too clean and dry and digital sounding. A way to alleviate this is using very short reverbs with the mix all the way to 100%. Reverbs that allow below 100 ms decay time are best for this. This will add an acoustic/organic quality to your sounds. Try convolution reverb to really take this technique to the next level!

2 -> The Power Of Delay!

We all use delay but do you know how it works? What it does? How different each delay can sound? Well here is a fantastic video diving into this powerhouse effect:

Watch as Woochia - Charly Sauret dives into all the detail you need to know about delay from the basics to the extremely creative!

3 -> Glitched Out Drums!

Drums! Most songs need them. Do you ever feel like your beats get a little bit stale and boring? Well here is a really cool set of tricks to spice up your grooves with glitches:

In this video Sketi showcases advanced and powerful glitch techniques that will add amazing character to your drums and rhythmical parts of your tunes. Get this knowledge in your memory banks now!

4 -> Our Latest Remake

This weeks sound showcase is the iconic bass from 'Disclosure - When A Fire Starts To Burn'

Disclosure’s “When A Fire Starts To Burn” features a dynamic bass synthesizer that emerges at 0:32, characterized by a square wave oscillator with velocity-triggered filter decay modulation. This setup allows the bass to shift between fat, resonant low notes (when velocity is low) and plucky, filtered notes (when velocity is high), creating contrast. The bassline’s interplay with the track’s vocal sample and percussion underscores its role as a foundational rhythmic element.
