U.S. Air Force Plane Has Been Missing in the Yukon for 75 Years. The Military Won't Search for It: This Team Hopes New Technology Can Help
The Douglas C-54 Skymaster departed Anchorage on January 26, 1950, carrying 42 service members and Joyce Espe—a pregnant military wife traveling with her toddler son for medical care. Two hours into the flight, the crew radioed that ice was forming on the wings but conditions were otherwise normal. The plane never made its next check-in and vanished without a trace.
