Trump could care less about dogs, but this drawing has a kernel of truth, no? I thought about making this a cat, but a cat would never put up with him. With Trump in the White House, and all the horrble things he’s done, putting his name on the Kennedy Center is apparently the last straw for some entertainers. I’m glad. A new sizable group of entertainers have decided not to perform at the Kennedy Center. Trump and his people are threatening them: “Your decision to withdraw at the last moment — explicitly in response to the Center’s recent renaming, which honors President Trump’s extraordinary efforts to save this national treasure — is classic intolerance and very costly to a non-profit Arts institution,” Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell, a Trump appointee, said in his letter to one of the performers. “This is your official notice that we will seek $1 million in damages from you for this political stunt.” He continues to say that the performer’s decision “surrenders to the sad bullying tactics employed by certain elements on the left, who have sought to intimidate artists into boycotting performances at our national cultural center.” Roma Daravi, the center’s vice president of public relations, added: “Any artist cancelling their show at the Trump Kennedy Center over political differences isn’t courageous or principled — they are selfish, intolerant, and have failed to meet the basic duty of a public artist: to perform for all people.” The Atlantic reports these threats are “hollow.” Maybe so, and I’m glad to hear it, but they are disgusting. The C.I.A. conducted a drone strike on a port facility in Venezuela last week, according to people briefed on the operation, a development that suggests an aggressive new phase of the Trump’s pressure campaign against the Maduro government has begun. Trump had already bragged about possible strikes inside Venezuela. Thankfully, no one was killed. “There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,” Trump told reporters at Mar-a-Lago, “They load the boats up with drugs. So we hit all the boats, and now we hit the area. It’s the implementation area, that’s where they implement, and that is no longer around.” It’s not clear what Trump is doing, except trying to force Maduro to step down (no signs of that), and to distract us. I am not clear why Trump wants a regime change in Venezela. President Zelensky met with Trump yesterday. When Trump spoke to reporters with Zelensky, Trump said “Putin wants Ukraine to succeed.” Zelensky could not keep a straight face. Nothing came of the meetings, except more evidence Trump sides with Putin. Zelensky keeps trying, to his credit. Good news: A federal judge has ordered that the Trump administration must allow funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to continue. Trump has been trying to shutter it since he returned to office. That’s all for today! As some of you know, I broke my wrist pretty badly six weeks ago: today the cast came off! Nice to have the weight removed, but I still can’t use the hand yet, it’s too weak. Lots of PT in my future! Thanks for being here, have a good evening. See you tomorrow.
