Chantilly A/B Day Calendar
Dear Chantilly Community,
WE have had a great full week of learning and celebrations at Chantilly! Be sure to read some of the highlights of our students' achievements in academics, athletics and performing arts below.
Did you know that Chantilly is home to over 100 clubs and activities in addition to our strong athletic and arts programs? As part of our Academic Advising activities, this week students connected with classmates and teachers to explore course offerings and co-curricular activities during our Activities Fair. Members of the class of 2026 met with their class board and sponsors to review upcoming senior events and deadlines. Families, please encourage your students to share advising and graduation resources with you that we have posted on Schoology.

Welcome back, Chargers! As we gear up for the second half of the school year, we want to highlight the vital role regular attendance plays in student success. Our community thrives when young minds are present, nurtured, and engaged; every day in the classroom is a building block for your student’s development.
Many families may not realize that any day missed for any reason (whether excused or unexcused) counts toward a student’s chronic absenteeism rate. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year. To put this into perspective, this equates to only 4 to 5 days per quarter!
To keep you informed, every family will soon receive an Attendance Report Card. This summary will include total days enrolled, total absences (excused and unexcused), and the overall absence percentage for the year so far. Please know that these updates are intended as another communication tool, not a judgment on the validity of your family's specific circumstances.
We urge parents and guardians to collaborate with our school support teams to encourage consistent attendance. Together, we can ensure every student receives the high-quality education they deserve.
Thank you for your continued support!
Course Videos, Course Catalog, and Academic Advising Site is now live and available for student and parent review.

The Chantilly High School Drama Department is proud to present our Theatre for Young Audiences Show: Fairy Tale High School! TYA Shows are designed with our youngest audience members in mind: Preschool through Elementary School!
What if your favorite fairy tale characters were all students in the same high school? Jack's best friend Jill encourages him to sell his beloved toy cow on the internet. Cindy is teased by her step-sisters when she tries out for the track team. And what's with all the rumors about the mysterious Wolf Man? Narrated by the bumbling Principal Grimm, this fast-paced comedy concludes, of course, with the "Happily Ever After Dance."
Performances -
January 23 at 7 p.m., January 24 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and January 25 at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets at chantillydrama.org
Enhancing Safety and Security for Staff and Students
School safety and security are being enhanced across FCPS with a new emergency management system. The system includes sensors installed in schools and a wearable emergency response button (ERB) for staff.
The button allows staff to quickly and discreetly request help and, once pressed, they provide location information within the school. The ERB will only work on school grounds and does not rely on cellular service. It is not meant to replace calling 911, but is an additional safety tool that can be used if calling 911 may not be safe or practical.
Learn more about the emergency management system. You may submit questions to the FCPS Chief of Safety and Security Office

Checking out early?
The best and most efficient way to check your student out of school early is to send a note with them to take to their Subschool Office in the morning! Or call your child's subschool before 9 a.m. to request early dismissal. You can find the phone numbers at the bottom of this email and on the Chantilly Attendance page.
- Your student will receive a pass to leave class at the time you specify.
- You won't need to come inside the school; your student will simply come out to meet you.
Please be aware that if you sign your student out in person, it can take up to 30 minutes for the pass to reach them, making sending a note the quickest option!
Important Reminders:
-
Email is not accepted for reporting absences or early checkouts.
- If a student becomes sick during the school day, they must be checked out through the clinic, not the Subschool Office, or by text with the student..
School Photos are now online!
Families should have received an E-proof via email.
Please remember to check your junk folder!.
For any questions about your student's school pictures please contact: underclass@vosphoto.com
The team at Victor O’Neill Studios would like to thank Chantilly High School for a great picture day!
Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools
The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.
Volunteer FCPS is how FCPS provides a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.
Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels
Due to the overwhelming response, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.
Field trip chaperone opportunities will now be classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).
To ensure continuous safety, all new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).
Visit the Volunteer FCPS website to complete a volunteer orientation. View Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
