Cemetery Expansion Project Update

As part of the federal project to expand the National Cemetery, the ramps between Washington Boulevard/Rt. 27 and Columbia Pike will close, starting roughly on Monday, January 19. In addition to the ramp closures, there will be traffic pattern changes along Joyce Street and Columbia Pike nearest to the cemetery.

Prior to these changes, travelers will notice detour signage in designated areas to help guide through the updated traffic routes.

This is in service of the federal Southern Expansion Project at Arlington National Cemetery. Learn more on the project page, sign up for email updates, or contact usarmy.anc.southernexpansion@army.mil.

Sidewalk Repairs on Segment D

Segment D - Sidewalk Work - January 2026

Throughout the month of January, crews will be conducting sidewalk quality assurance and repair work on Segment D - between South Garfield Street and South Courthouse Road.

Expect short term lane closures during work hours to allow crews to access sidewalks safely. In cases where crews are working on the full width of a sidewalk, look out for detour signs to guide your path around the work site.
