Underground Utility Work Next Weekend

On January 22-24, crews will work on a conduit below Military Road on the north leg of the intersection with Nelly Custis Road. This work will take place between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

  • The north northbound lane will close; all traffic will shift to the southbound lane in a flagging formation
  • Flaggers will guide vehicle traffic through the intersection
  • Sidewalks and crosswalks will remain open

Outside of work hours, the intersection will resume its all-way stop configuration through the end of Phase 3. Learn more on the project page.

Stormwater Improvements Project on Langston Blvd.

Stormwater Langston and Sycamore - Jan-Feb 2026

The Arlington County Office of Sustainability and Environmental Management will be performing stormwater utility upgrades at the intersection of Langston Boulevard and North Sycamore Street.

Construction is expected to begin around January and February, 2026 and will last about 4-6 months.  The construction will require one lane closure on Sycamore St. and one on Langston Boulevard. The sidewalk will remain open during construction.

This project will increase stormwater system capacity by installing an additional 76”x48” stormwater pipe and two new stormwater structures at the intersection of Langston Boulevard and North Sycamore Street.

(This work is not related to the bus bay expansion project at East Falls Church Metro a few blocks south.)
