Happy Friday, Fairfax Families!

It has been an incredibly high-energy week at FHS as we focused on the future. This week was all about curriculum planning, elective exploration, and setting the stage for post-secondary success. Whether our students are just starting to think about next year or are deep in the college application process, the halls have been buzzing with ambition and intentionality. It has been PAWSome.

One of the highlights of the week was our Curriculum Fair Day. Our students had the unique opportunity to visit up to four different classes of their choice. By stepping into these classrooms, meeting the teachers, and seeing the curriculum in action, our Lions are making informed decisions about their 26-27 school year. It was wonderful to see students exploring new interests and identifying those "push" courses that will challenge them to grow.

Thank you to the hundreds of families who joined us on campus for our Curriculum Night. It was a "PAWSitive" evening filled with vibrant conversations at our course tables and information sessions. Seeing parents and students engage directly with our departments and staff is the best way to ensure every student builds a schedule that is both well-rounded and rigorous. We are committed to helping every student find the perfect fit for their academic journey.

For our Class of 2027, the future became even more tangible this week at our Junior College Planning. We were honored to host an expert panel of admissions officers who provided invaluable insights into the current landscape of higher education. Families had the opportunity to ask tough questions and hear firsthand how to navigate the complexities of finding the right post-secondary choice.

This coming Monday, January 19, we will celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. As we reflect on his legacy, I am reminded of his words regarding our shared mission: "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."  In honor of Dr. King’s legacy,  I encourage our families to consider joining a day of service project in our community. Turning this "day off" into a "day on" for others is a wonderful way to put character into action.

Have a wonderful and restorative long weekend!

Warmly,
