Despite efforts to oppose the petition (which we took part in), the FCC has waived Verizon’s long-standing requirement to automatically unlock phones 60 days after activation, allowing the carrier to follow more lenient industry guidelines instead. According to Verizon, this change is aimed at reducing fraud. Conveniently for them, this will make it harder for some customers to switch carriers quickly. |
