What a wild week of weather! We hope you have been able to stay safe and warm and have found some opportunities for fun amidst the snow.
As you begin the process of digging out from the winter storm, our dedicated custodial team has been working tirelessly to prepare Saratoga to re-open and welcome students back. They have already made significant progress clearing the parking lots and are currently in the process of "chiseling" away at walking paths to ensure safe passage for everyone.
We are incredibly grateful for the hard work they’ve put in during this bitter cold. A huge shout-out to our custodians for battling the elements; they’ve spent the week proving that shoveling is a competitive sport and that they’re the undisputed heavyweights of the ice-chipping world!

Bundle Up: Temperatures remain low, so ensure students dress warmly as they come to and from school.

Saratoga Elementary School Culture Night Friday, February 7th, 6-8pmSaratoga PTA is excited to host Culture Night at Saratoga, a multi-cultural event that gives our students and families the opportunity to explore different cultures and countries from around the world. Parent and student volunteers will give a glimpse into the traditions of their cultures.Free event! Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one caregiver must be present), the student will be ready for orientation or any other introductory events our school may host. Try Online RegistrationParents may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process. When registering, parents will create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account.
⛄ Keep Your Child Warm During Outdoor Activities
We will monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories that may prevent children from being outside. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. View the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.
If you need assistance getting cold-weather clothing for your family, please call Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. Their multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and health.

¡Qué semana tan intensa en cuanto al clima! Esperamos que hayan podido mantenerse a salvo y abrigados, y que hayan encontrado algunas oportunidades para divertirse a pesar de la nieve.
Mientras ustedes comienzan a despejar la nieve después de la tormenta invernal, nuestro dedicado equipo de mantenimiento ha estado trabajando incansablemente para preparar Saratoga para su reapertura y dar la bienvenida de nuevo a los estudiantes. Ya han logrado un progreso significativo despejando los estacionamientos y actualmente están trabajando arduamente para despejar los senderos peatonales y garantizar un paso seguro para todos.
Estamos increíblemente agradecidos por el arduo trabajo que han realizado durante este frío intenso. ¡Un gran aplauso para nuestro personal de mantenimiento por enfrentar las inclemencias del tiempo; han demostrado esta semana que "palar nieve" es un deporte de competición y que son los campeones indiscutibles en la lucha contra el hielo!
❄️ Recordatorios importantes para el regreso:
La seguridad es lo primero: Por favor, utilicen los caminos despejados al caminar por el campus.
Abríguense bien: Las temperaturas siguen bajas, así que asegúrense de que los estudiantes se vistan con ropa abrigada para ir y venir de la escuela.
La paciencia es clave: La entrada y salida de estudiantes podría ser un poco más lenta debido a los montones de nieve restantes.

La Inscripción en Kindergarten: Tan Fácil como 1-2-3…
Existe un sencillo proceso de cinco pasos para los padres que quieren inscribir a su niño en kindergarten:
- Determine su elegibilidad.

Mantenga a Su Hijo Bien Abrigado Durante las Actividades al Aire LibreEstaremos atentos a las bajas temperaturas, los avisos y advertencias de viento helado y los avisos meteorológicos que pueden impedir que los niños estén al aire libre. Sin embargo, asegúrese de que su hijo esté vestido apropiadamente con un abrigo y otra ropa de clima frío para que pueda disfrutar cómodamente de su tiempo al aire libre. El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional ofrece algunos consejos para mantenerse seguro durante el tiempo frío.
