Please join us in sharing heartfelt appreciation for our outstanding custodial team. Over the past week they have worked tirelessly to clear snow and ice from our sidewalks, entrances, and school grounds in very cold and challenging conditions. Their dedication helped ensure that our campus is safe and ready for our Eagles to return to school very soon, and we are deeply grateful for all they do to support our school community.
As cold temperatures continue, we ask families to please send students to school with proper winter clothing and gear. Our outdoor time for recess will likely be limited due to the low temperatures and icy grounds, and warm coats, hats, gloves, and other necessary winter gear necessary is still important for buses, Kiss & Ride, and walking to and from home.
For students who walk to school, families may wish to review the walking route with their child to ensure they are prepared for a safe walk in winter conditions. Please note that the area and pathway behind the building remain covered in snow and ice as of Friday evening. We appreciate your partnership in keeping our Eagles safe, warm, and ready to learn.
Warmly,
Jamie Luerssen

Around the World Heritage Night
We're excited to invite you to a parent interest meeting for our upcoming Heritage Night! Join us on Monday, February 9, at 4:00 p.m. in the library to learn more and help with the planning. We'll be honoring the rich diversity of our community by showcasing traditions, customs, food, games, and activities from around the world. Heritage Night will be held on March 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
School Experience Survey
Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 3-6, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 23, and Friday, February 27. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You can preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose, at the Student Experience Survey webpage. The electronic opt-out form can also be accessed at this link. All opt-outs must be received by February 13.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.

Ramadan Observation
If your student is observing Ramadan during school hours, please fill out this Ramadan Participation Questionnaire so we can coordinate on both a prayer schedule and a lunch alternative location for them, if needed.
Thanks to a program from the Virginia Department of Education, students who are fasting during the school day between February 18 and March 19 can take school meal kits home at the end of the day. Families will need to fill out a weekly Fasting Meals Request Form for their child or children to receive school meal kits. A separate form must be filled out for each week and each student. Visit the FNS webpage for more information, including weekly request forms and deadlines.
