Driving Sober is Your Safest Bet: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive DrunkARLINGTON, Va. –For Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, 2026, the Arlington County Police Department and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are teaming up to remind drivers: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk. No matter who you are rooting for, your best bet for a safe trip home is a sober one. Nationwide, the rate of alcohol impairment among drivers involved in fatal crashes in 2023 was 3 times higher at night than during the day. For the safety of yourself and those around you, decide on how you will get home before kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday night. NHTSA’s Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk campaign encourages spectators to make plans ahead of game time that will prevent them from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle after drinking. If you are hosting a Super Bowl party, be sure all your guests have a sober ride home -- whether it's a designated sober driver, public transportation, rideshare service or taxi. If you are designated sober driver, be a team player -take your role seriously and don’t drink.
