Handbell, Percussion and Chorus Winter Concert, 6 pm, Sangster
Our custodial staff continues to work hard clearing snow and ice for our staff and students! We thank them for their tremendous work!
Sangster 5th graders were creators, collaborators and global and ethical citizens as they designed devices to deliver items necessary for survival to people affected by poverty, war, natural disasters, etc.
The Winter Band Concert has been rescheduled due to snow days to
Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 pm in the Sangster Gym.
All 5th and 6th Grade Band students will perform their Winter Band Concert on that evening.
Call time is 6:15 pm, meaning that students are in their chairs ready to play at 6:15 pm. Please drop students off at Door 1 between 6 - 6:10 pm.
Gym doors will open for parent seating at 6:45 pm.
The Updated Concert Flyer with all the details is in Schoology, will be given to all students and emailed home. Students should be practicing at home each night to ensure a GREAT concert!

Plan for an Earlier-than-9:10 Drop Off
Possibly due to colder temperatures, we are experiencing higher than normal Kiss-n-Ride delays. Please remember the following:
- Students are marked tardy if they are not in their seats by 9:10 am. If you are dropping off at Kiss-n-Ride, ensure you are considering possible traffic delays, longer wait times, and unforeseen factors. We often have different crossing guards who manage traffic on Reservation Dr. differently, which also impacts the flow of traffic in the Kiss-n-Ride lane.
- Staff leave the Kiss-n-Ride area around 9:09 am. If your child is brought to school at 9:10 am or after, they must be signed in at the main office by an adult.
- Have your child ready to exit the car when you pull up to the curb. Many students are putting on coats or finishing breakfast and it is contributing to delays in the Kiss-n-Ride lane.

 Online Registration Open
Online registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open, including rising kindergarteners.
To begin the process, visit fcps.edu/online-registration.
Questions?
Email Maribel Sanchez, Sangster Registrar, or call her directly at 703-644-8203.
FCPS’ 2026-27 Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program lottery is open. The program offers students in kindergarten and first grade the opportunity to learn in English and another language — French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish — for half of each instructional day.
The online, countywide lottery is open to Fairfax County residents. Families must have a SIS ParentVUE account. Students not currently enrolled in FCPS should register at their base school before applying for the immersion program.
Families applying for first grade must do so by Thursday, February 12, at 4 p.m. Those applying for kindergarten must do so by Monday, March 2, at 4 p.m.
Questions? Contact Brigid Williams at 571-423-4600.
 7th Grade Course Schedules
Lake Braddock Middle School
All student course selections have been given to Lake Braddock, and will be visible in the SIS (Student Information System), through ParentVue or StudentVue later this month.
If you need to set up a ParentVue account or need a refresher on how to login, click here.
Students have been instructed on how to access their StudentVue account to check their course selections. For more information about your child’s SIS StudentVue account, click here.
Irving Middle School
All signed course selection sheets are due. Most students attending Irving Middle school have handed in their course selection sheets, and are ready for academic advising.
On Tuesday, February 10, Irving-bound students will meet as a group with Ms. Augenstein to learn how to enter their course selections into SIS.
If your child is in the Level Four AAP program and is planning on going to Irving, you must complete this Google form from the FCPS AAP Office so Irving is indicated in the Student Information System. AAP Level Four students going to Irving cannot enter their course selections into SIS until this step is taken.
Math
If your child intends on taking Algebra I Honors next year, you might notice a different Math course indicated in SIS. This is intentional. Both Lake Braddock and Irving ask that all students planning on taking Algebra I Honors enter Pre-Algebra Honors on their course selection sheets. Students cannot be placed in Algebra I H until after grades and test scores are reviewed at the end of the year.
Need to Know Timeline and Resources
Here is a complete list of all middle school transition events and linked resources for Lake Braddock and Irving. Please reach out with any questions.
7th Grade Immunization Information
Tdap & MenACWY for Rising 7th Graders
As required by the Code of VA, all students entering 7th grade are required to have one dose of each of the following immunizations: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older, and Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older.
Immunizations are available from your child’s healthcare provider, the Fairfax County Health Department, or other community resources. Visit our FCPS Immunization Resources page for more information. Schedule your child’s immunizations early, as summer is a busy time for families and healthcare providers.

Sangster Elementary is transitioning to a new visitor management kiosk where you'll need to scan both sides of your Driver's License every time you sign in.
However, if you download the Raptor app, you can set up your profile at home, which will generate a permanent QR code that you can scan instead of your license.
You'll be able to quickly scan your phone, grab your printed badge, and be on your way. You'll scan your phone again to sign out. Get instructions on how to set it up!
