Olde Creek News

Admin Avenue

Dear Bear Families,

It has been quite a stretch of winter weather here at Olde Creek. Between a full week out of school due to snow/ice and teacher work days, followed by several two-hour delays, we know this has required a lot of flexibility from our families and staff.

We are incredibly grateful for our community and the way everyone came together in the cold to support one another and our school. A HUGE shout out to Wendy Oliva and Nelsy Mejia, our amazing custodial team, for their tireless work shoveling, salting, and sanding. And then doing it all over again. Their dedication ensured the safe arrival of our staff and students, and we are so thankful for them.

We are hopeful that next week brings a return to some normalcy. And just in time, we are welcoming it with an Olympic-sized dose of fun.

As you will read below, we are kicking off a POG (Portrait of a Graduate) and Olympic-themed spirit week. Throughout the week, students will focus on different POG attributes, each paired with a spirit day. They will be making connections between what it means to be an Olympian and the POG traits needed to work hard, persevere, and achieve your dreams.

This afternoon, Olde Creek will host our very own Opening Ceremonies with a school-wide gathering. We will be lighting our Olympic torch class by class as a symbol of teamwork and shared purpose. Be sure to check out our social media for some great pictures from the event.

A big shout out to Ms. Philip (4th grade), for her vision, leadership, and follow-through in creating what is sure to be an incredible week full of POG, Olympic connections, and fun.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. After all this snow, we are ready to go for the gold together.

Stay warm and stay safe,

Courtney Korb

Winter Olympic and POG Spirit Week

Join in the fun as we celebrate the Winter Olympics and tie it to our learning around Portrait of a Graduation (POG) attributes.

Students will be focusing on a different POG attribute each day and are encouraged to dress up for each day as noted below! We are hoping to capture lots of students taking part so they can be featured in our newsletters, social media and internal slide shows around the building.

Throughout the week, students will be hearing from Olympians and Paralympians who will share their story about making it to the Olympics.

Check out a preview of one of the Olympian stories HERE
