A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

It was wonderful to have our students back in school this week! We appreciate their flexibility as we adjusted schedules for delayed openings, WIDA testing, and assemblies. Due to the delays, we need to adjust our schedule on Monday, February 9, to complete our school-wide WIDA testing. Students will test in the morning and then attend classes after lunch.

On Wednesday of this week, students enjoyed a special Birds of Prey presentation by the Secret Garden Birds and Bees nonprofit. They saw three birds up close and learned about their habitats, hunting methods, and environments. Be sure to ask your student about this memorable experience!

Today, we celebrated our graduating seniors at the Senior Awards Ceremony. Students were recognized for their academic achievements and received awards and scholarships. Be on the lookout for next week’s graduation edition of our newsletter, which will highlight our February graduates.

Our graduation ceremony will take place on Wednesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. Underclassmen will not attend school that day. The ceremony will be livestreamed for family members who cannot attend in person. Please share the link with family members/friends who would like to watch the ceremony.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Take Care!

Cindy Conley

Principal

Bryant High School is Celebrating Kindness!

World Kindness Day is Friday, February 13, and we will celebrate Kindness Week from February 14–20. Throughout the week, students and staff will have the opportunity to write Kindness Grams. This is an easy way to show kindness, recognize others, and brighten someone’s day with a thoughtful note. Please encourage your student to participate by sending a Kindness Gram.

Meal Kits for Fasting Students

From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.

Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:

  • Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.
  • Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
  • Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.

Visit the Food and Nutrition webpage for forms, deadlines, and other information. Please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services with any questions at FCPSFNS@fcps.edu or 703-813-4800.

Help Keep Bryant High School Phone-Free!

Please remind your student that cell phones and personal devices (AirPods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) can no longer be used during passing periods. Phones and personal devices must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell) with the exception of lunch time in designated lunch spaces. Cell phones are also not permitted to be used as an instructional tool.

FCPS’ cell phone policy helps students stay focused, safe, and engaged at school. Visit FCPS’ cell phone policy webpage for more information and answers to frequently asked questions, including consequences for cell phone policy violations and exceptions for students with medical conditions or IEP/504 plans.

If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call our front office at 703-660-2000.
