This week, The Washington Post laid off more than 300 journalists, including 14 climate reporters, effectively dismantling one of the strongest climate desks in the United States.
The owner is Jeff Bezos.
'If Bezos were serious about keeping the light on, he has the money to do it. At a moment when democracy in the United States is under real attack, one of its most important watchdogs was deliberately silenced. The Post warned the world that democracy dies in darkness. Right now, its own owner has chosen to turn the light off.
When climate journalism disappears, accountability disappears with it. Delay becomes easier. Fossil interests breathe easier. And the public is left less informed, just as the climate crisis accelerates.
At We Don’t Have Time, we don’t chase trends. The climate crisis may be unfashionable, but we will never stop talking about it. Because silence sides with delay. And delay kills.
