Data.census.gov Newsletter – February 2026
What's New?
Discover the redesigned data.census.gov landing page, featuring more intuitive navigation and easier access to helpful content.
Our refreshed landing page has been updated based on years of feedback from data users. For a walkthrough of these improvements, check out our new video tutorial. Updates include:
New ‘Search by Address’ button, providing an intuitive way to open the address search functionality.
Re-titled ‘Explore Filters’ button. Previously called ‘Advanced Search,’ this new label provides a more accurate description.
Reorganization of navigation links: The tabs for ‘Profiles,’ ‘Tables,’ ‘Maps,’ and ‘Charts’ have moved from the top right corner of the landing page to the top left side of the page. We also added a new ‘Microdata’ button that takes you directly to the Microdata Access Tool (MDAT).

Since the inception of data.census.gov, we have requested your feedback to guide us in building and improving the site. One of the ways we have done this is through quarterly usability testing. We have a series of tasks that participants use as a guide to walk through the site to help determine what works and what still needs to be addressed.
We know that our users come from a variety of backgrounds, and we want to learn as much as we can on how you interact with our site, so we rely on both novice and expert users to complete this testing.
If you, or someone you know, would be interested in participating in our usability testing, please complete this eligibility survey.
