| Hello. Ahead of this year's Munich Security Conference, security correspondent Frank Gardner take a look at what US President Donald Trump's new world order means for European security. TOP OF THE AGENDA | Does Nato's Article 5 still work? |
|
| | Just a couple of weeks ago, Trump was not ruling out force to acquire Greenland. Credit: Reuters | A year on from US Vice-President JD Vance's bombshell speech at the Munich Security Conference, in which he claimed the greatest threat to Europe comes from within, the Trump administration has "tipped the world order upside down", writes Frank Gardner. Trump's repeated threats over Greenland have contributed to the greatest strain on the transatlantic relationship for decades, he says, including calling into question whether Nato's Article 5 - stipulating that an attack on one country is an attack on all - can still work. The conference "should provide some answers on where the transatlantic alliance is heading", writes Frank. "They just may not necessarily be what Europe wants to hear." |
