I’ve been burning ships. I have been letting go of certain aspirations and dreams. This is not because I am quitting, but because I must make sacrifices for what is most important to me. LFG. 🔥 What My Breathwork Session Showed MeLast night, Juliana hosted a breathwork session. It was completely sold out and truly awesome. During my breathwork journey, what surfaced for me was a moment from yesterday while playing frisbee with The Little Dude. I had stopped playing to answer a work email. I then felt a bit annoyed when he nagged me to keep playing with him. I kept replaying the look on his face. It was the look of a little boy who wants so badly to play with his dad. During my breathwork session, it became absolutely clear that I need to let go of some of my more grandiose ideas. I need to do a better job of managing my time. It is not okay for me to be half present when playing with my son. He will remember those little moments, even if it seems like he will not. I do not need to be so busy all the time. Being Busy Is Not Being A Good EntrepreneurLast year, I fell out of my rhythm. I know what I want. My goal is to build my personal holdings company to $10M a year. Last year was the first time I took any real losses, so I got in my head and stopped forming partnerships or making deals. This is fine. It is natural to take a breather after a loss. However, the problem was that I overcompensated by returning to my default mode of grinding and staying busy. That is not necessary. “You do not get rich from what you do; you get rich from what you own.” This has always been my core thesis. As such, the work I do in my agency serves two purposes:
So from a birds eye view, it’s very obvious that the most efficient use of my time is to fully focus on growing Quantum Leads, continue to build my sales team, continue to write my newsletter, and then use the cash to make long term investments. Everything else is a distraction. So this is a reconning of what matters. Partnerships Are The AnswerMy business coach constantly reminds me of this slogan: “It is not about resources, it is about resourcefulness.” A few months ago, I stepped back to look at all the projects on my plate. I created a list of possible partners to hire, share equity with, or make deals with to take the daily labor off my plate. Over the last month, those partnerships have been coming together. I’ve made some really big moves (more on this later) and have brought in partners to run the day to day of most my portfolio companies. I am happy to say that I have freed up significant time. After my breathwork session, it is clear that I must continue this path so I can stay laser focused on what really matters. So what matters? Aside from family, here is the priority:
I need to be laser focused on what is essential. Whenever my brain starts rambling in a million directions with new ideas, I must remind myself of the look on The Little Dude’s face when I was distracted and he just wanted to play frisbee. My job is to build the best healthcare lead gen marketing agency in the world. With whatever time is left, I can write my newsletter and build my personal brand to create future opportunities. Aside from that, nothing else matters. Love you guys. Talk to you tomorrow. Tim You're currently a free subscriber to Tim Stoddart. For the full experience, upgrade your subscription. |
