The National Academy of Sciences’ (NAS) Gulf Research Program’s Science Policy Fellowship helps scientists hone their skills by putting them to practice for the benefit of Gulf Coast communities and ecosystems. Fellows gain first-hand experience as they spend one year on the staff of federal, state, local, or non-governmental agencies in the Gulf region. Fellows will explore restoration planning, grants management, policy development, and community engagement and learn what it takes to make scientific information not just useful but usable.
The NOAA RESTORE Science Program is one of several offices that hosts fellows around the Gulf for this year-long opportunity.
Applications are due by 5 pm ET on February 26, 2026. The fellowship begins September 1, 2026. For more information on the fellowship and application process, contact the Gulf Research Program at GulfFellowships@nas.edu.
