Good morning Wypierdalaj,

We're continuing to track our (minimal) snow chances for Monday, as well as more unsettled weather later this week. We're also following the latest from the Milan Cortina Olympics where Mikaela Shiffrin is back in action today, and Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman is explaining what happened when he was in net for Team USA on Saturday. Plus, there's the tragedy that unfolded yesterday in Eastham, and a deadly snowmobile crash in Maine. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines.

Woman dies after falling through ice while walking dog on Cape Cod; husband not yet found

A woman has died after falling through the ice while walking her dog in Eastham, Massachusetts, on Saturday morning, and a search will resume again Sunday for her husband, who police think likely fell through the ice, as well.

Eastham police and fire officials said officers found the woman about 30 feet from shore, screaming for help in Bee’s River around 9 a.m. after spotting a loose, wet dog on First Encounter Beach. Two officers tried to rescue her, but both fell through the ice themselves. Both struggled back to land safely and were taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation.

Eastham Fire Department crews then entered the water in cold water suits but they were unable to immediately locate the woman. Multiple additional resources were called to the scene to try to rescue her, including the Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team and Barnstable County Dive Team, as well as drones from the Eastham Police Department.

New Hampshire woman killed in Maine snowmobile crash

A 23-year-old woman died after she crashed her snowmobile Friday in Jackman, Maine.

The Maine Warden Service says Michelle Carolina Cantos was riding with family and friends when she lost control of her Polaris snowmobile around 11:45 a.m., according to NBC10 Boston affiliate News Center Maine. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says Cantos was riding fourth in a group of five, and that inexperience appears to have played a role in the deadly crash, News Center Maine reports.
