Good morning Wypierdalaj, We're continuing to track our (minimal) snow chances for Monday, as well as more unsettled weather later this week. We're also following the latest from the Milan Cortina Olympics where Mikaela Shiffrin is back in action today, and Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman is explaining what happened when he was in net for Team USA on Saturday. Plus, there's the tragedy that unfolded yesterday in Eastham, and a deadly snowmobile crash in Maine. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines. |

Happy Tuesday! We might be getting a break from the bitter cold this week, but we’re not getting a break from the snow! In fact, we’re tracking a few chances for snow, starting with Tuesday. A weak system from the northwest will bring a few snow flurries and brief snow showers, along with areas of patchy freezing drizzle to the region this morning and possibly into the early afternoon. Temperatures have been below freezing this morning, but by this afternoon, highs will climb into the mid and upper 30s. Little to no snow accumulation is expected for much of Greater Boston, but let’s be careful. Freezing drizzle could still produce some slippery surfaces here and there, especially on some bridges and sidewalks. |

As snow melts, pollutants in runoff raise concerns |

Ice on the Mystic River is starting to break up, and its banks will soon fill with runoff from dirty snow piles, flooding the freshwater ecosystem. “Oh, there’s so many birds here. You don’t want to destroy the habitats for them,” one woman said, walking on the banks of the Mystic River. It’s been a snowy and cold winter, requiring lots of road salt, which always ends up in freshwater streams and rivers, as well as the ocean. |
