Principal’s Message

ffffff

Happy Friday Wolverine Community,

District Choir:  The District Honor Choir event was hosted at our school last week.  It was a HUGE success! We had 33 students participate.  The choirs sounded beautiful, and all the visiting students, directors, and guest clinicians were very pleased with everything.

In addition, we are elated to share that eight of our singers auditioned successfully for the All-Virginia Honor Choir event!! This is a huge honor to have so many delegates… for reference, our district sends 32 total delegates, so our school alone took 25% of those spots. We also have two alternates. Last year, we sent 4 students.  Below are the names:

  • Lee Assefa, S2, SSAA
  • Noura Barka, S2 SSAA
  • Grace Barrett, S2, SATB
  • Hannah Kavanagh, A2, SATB
  • Jeremy Lacey-Kline, T2, TTBB
  • Livi Peck, A2, SATB
  • Jonathan Sorli, B1, SATB
  • Andrew Stroman, T1, SATB

ALTERNATES:

  • Cara Corcoran, A1, 1st Alternate
  • Erin Andreas, A1, 2nd Alternate

FCPS CARES submission:

Congrats Ms Tanisha  Lee:

It is with great appreciation and admiration that I would like to take a moment and say “Thank You” to Ms. Tanisha Lee. She is a first-year teacher who has gone above and beyond her duties here at West Potomac High School, showing grace, dedication, and great team spirit in all her endeavors. She has taken on her role as an Intellectual Disabilities teacher with compassion and creativity. She creates opportunities for them to grow and learn while at the same time supporting her team members with impromptu breakfasts, supply boxes, and all-around comradery. She has also funded the purchase of items on her own to help facilitate an after-school fundraiser for the special education department. She is a team player, an advocate for both students and staff and a great addition to this team. Kudos to Ms. Lee for all that she does and continues to do.

Congrats Adam P Sanchez:

Mr. Sanchez was extremely helpful in supporting our admin and security during a day where we had 3 different student groups moving within a small section of the school. He was positive in his interactions with students and staff from multiple schools who were in attendance while WPHS hosted a District choral event.

SRO Appreciation

Thank you to our amazing School Resource Officer, Officer Tiburcio, for his hard-work and dedication to our Wolverine Community.  We appreciate him very much!

I hope you all have a nice weekend!
