Good afternoon, Lorton Station families!

Our 100th Day of School celebration was absolutely fantastic! Students and staff enjoyed recognizing this important milestone in creative and meaningful ways. From special classroom activities to our annual Kindergarten 100th DAY Parade, to classroom activities that reflect on how we have grown as learners at Lorton Station. It was a reminder of the hard work and dedication our students have shown over the past 100 days.

As we begin the holy month of Ramadan, we want to share our continued commitment to supporting all students. For students who are fasting, we have a designated quiet location available during lunch times. In addition, meals may be taken home to ensure students have access to food when they are ready to eat.

We also invite you to join us next Saturday for SPARK Expo: Science & Engineering Fair on February 28 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. This special event showcases our students’ creativity, innovation, and scientific inquiry. It is always an inspiring morning, and we look forward to seeing our families and community members there to celebrate our young scientists and engineers.

Quick highlights:

Have a great day,

Dr. Legagneur, Mr. Barton, and Ms. Champion

Rooted in Resilience: Echoes of Excellence

Families and community members are invited to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and uplift the voices shaping our future at FCPS’ Second Annual Black History Month Celebration. Rooted in Resilience: Echoes of Excellence will take place on Wednesday, February 25, at 6 p.m., at Carter G. Woodson High School

The event will honor the rich history, strength, and contributions of the Black community through inspiring student performances and a powerful keynote address by Rev. Vernon C. Walton, pastor of First Baptist Church of Vienna. Light refreshments will be available.

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.

Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.

FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.

Want a quick way to recognize an employee or team? Share an FCPS CARES! Families, colleagues, and students are all invited to submit. The FCPS CARES is automatically sent to the recipient(s) and their supervisor, and is posted on fcps.edu. Additionally, each month one school in our region wins a staff celebration party from HR. Encourage your community to show our staff that their hard work is appreciated
