Learn About Opportunities for the Year Following Graduation

FCPS School Counseling Services and Go Overseas will co-host the FCPS Virtual Gap Year Fair on Tuesday, February 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. This event is for high school students and their families who are interested in learning about opportunities for the year following high school graduation. Students should register at USA Gap Year Fairs. Contact Pamela White with any questions.


Black History Month Celebrations

The Marshall High School Black Student Union (BSU) is excited to announce this year's Black History Month celebration. The theme is: “A Century of Black History Commemorations” and we have a ton of events that all students are welcome to participate in!

  • February 3rd: Wristband Give-a-way (All Lunches, Cafeteria)
  • February 6th: Spirit Day: Wear Pan-African Colors (Red, Black, Green, Yellow)
  • February 12th: Author Talk: BJ Staples (Learn)
  • February 13th: Spirit Day: Wear All Black
  • February 20th: Spirit Day: Wear Clothing with African & African American Figures
  • February 23rd-27th: Spirit Week: Wear Cultural Wear
  • February 23rd: Musician Talk: Sing Steph (Learn)
  • February 24th: Wristband Give-a-way (All Lunches, Cafeteria)
  • February 25th: FCPS BHM Celebration (Woodson HS, 6:00-8:00 pm)
  • February 26th: Guest Speakers: Laurel Grove School Museum (Learn)
  • February 27th: Leadership Panel: “Engagement, Empowerment & Excellence”(Learn, Library)

Academic Advising Timeline for School Year 26-27

  • Course Kickoff | January 8th, 2026 | Opportunity for current students in grades 9, 10, and 11 to learn more about elective offerings in which they may be interested in.
  • Academic Days of Emphasis | January 5-16, 2026 | Current students in Grades 9, 10, and 11, will have conversations with their current teachers to receive feedback regarding course selections and opportunities.
  • IB Information Night for Rising 9th graders: January 21st 2026, at Kilmer Middle School at 5:00 PM
  • Academic Advising Rising Seniors | January 20, 2026
  • Academic Advising Rising Juniors | February 2, 2026
  • Academic Advising Rising Sophomores | February 20, 2026
  • Rising 9th Grade Orientation | February 5th 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm For rising 9th grade students to come see the building and meet with their counselor.

Seniors Mid-Year Transcripts 

Senior Mid-year transcripts have been sent to all schools on Friday, February 13th. It takes time for the colleges to process the mid-year paperwork, so please be patient as this is completed

If you feel like your school is missing the mid-year transcripts, please reach out to the college's admissions office to check on their processing time.
