February 20 - News and Notes!
Dear Rolling Valley Families,
It was a short but busy week at Rolling Valley! With no school on Monday, a teacher workday on Tuesday, and our early release on Wednesday, we packed a lot into just a few days.
Thank you to all of our families for helping make Wednesday’s early release run so smoothly. Your planning and partnership make a real difference in making sure students are prepared for their dismissal process.
Today we had the opportunity to celebrate Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Many students wore yellow and shared thoughtful cards, drawings, and coloring pages to let our drivers know how much they are valued. We are incredibly grateful for the care, patience, and dedication our bus drivers show each day as they transport our students safely to and from school.
As we look ahead, we are excited to return to a full week of learning together. There is great momentum in classrooms, and we look forward to building on it next week.
We hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend, and we will see everyone on Monday!

NEW VISITOR CHECK-IN SYSTEM
Live Now
Welcome to Raptor! Please download the RaptorSafe App to your mobile phone so that you can quickly sign-in as a visitor or volunteer to OHES. Look for these signs to scan the QR code or search for Raptor Safe in your mobile phone app store. You do not need a school code when completing registration.
While you may still use your government issued IDs, the Mobile App is quick and easy - and the preferred method for most visitors.
The new Raptor system replaces the old ScholarChip and is faster and more efficient.
The OHES office staff will be happy to assist you in getting sign-in to the new system should you have any questions.
We are excited to begin using the new RaptorSafe system to keep our building safe knowing who is visiting.

Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 3-6, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 23, and Friday, March 6. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You will receive a communication with details on how to preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose. The electronic opt-out form can also be accessed at this link.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.
