New Visitor Management System

Newsletters:

  • New Visitor Management SystemWe are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.

For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.

But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.

If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!

Track and Field Season Registration Form is Live!

For planning purposes, we want to make families aware of our meet dates. All track meets will be on Saturdays again, on the following dates: April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16, with the division championship being held on May 30. If you would like to have your child participate in track, please click HERE to register. Students who wish to participate in track MUST have a sports physical dated after May 1, 2025. If your child participated in cross country, they do not need to get another physical, but they do need to register for track through the form above. More information about practices will be shared soon. If you are interested in volunteering to support our Track and Field Team, please email Natalie Duncan at naduncan@fcps.edu.

Irving MS Meditation and Silent Reflection Space

In alignment with FCPS Regulation 1502, Irving MS ensures that students and staff of all religious backgrounds have reasonable accommodations and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school building. Students may request to use the space during the school day but may only request to use the space during instructional periods with parent permission. If you would like your child to have access to the Meditation and Silent Reflection Space during instructional time, please review the Policies and Procedure (linked) and complete the google form linked on the site to provide parent permission.

Student Fasting Meal Kits

From February 18 to March 19, 2026, a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) waiver allows students fasting during the school day to request take-home meal kits. These kits include a complete school breakfast and lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.

Important Meal Kit Information:

  • Kits are charged based on a student’s meal status (Free, Reduced, or Paid).

  • Students may claim one breakfast and one lunch kit per day.

  • Students who eat a meal at school during the day are not eligible for a take-home kit on the same day.

  • Kits are distributed at the end of the school day. Students must pick up their own kits; adults are not permitted to collect them.

Parents or guardians must submit a weekly request form via the FCPS FNS website by the deadlines:

  • February 11, 2026 for week of February 18, 2026

  • February 16, 2026 for the week of February 23, 2026

  • February 23, 2026 for the week of March 2, 2026

  • March 2, 2026 for the week of March 9, 2026

  • March 9, 2026 for the week of March 16, 2026

Forms must be submitted on time to receive meal kits for the following week.

Recurring Irving MS News

Library News:

On Wednesday of this week, the library introduced a new pass request system for students.  When the weather forces “breaktime in the classroom,” students now have a way to request a pass to spend their fifteen-minute break time in the library.  Students sign up by going to the Library’s Schoology Page and submitting a request through a Google Form.   Students may read, borrow books, play card- and board-games, work the puzzle, and more.  There is a new sign up for each day.  If you have heard your student complaining that they aren’t able to go to the library when we have “break in the classroom,” you might want to remind them to look for this link in the Library Schoology page.
