Visitation for Cora H. Johnson, 83, will be Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 3-8 p.m. at Michaels Funeral Home, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at Holy Archangels Parish, St. Hubert Campus, 729 Grand Canyon St., Hoffman Estates. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Cora was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Chicago, to the late Raymond and Dorothea Chylewski, and passed away Feb. 19, 2026, in Elk Grove Village. She was the loving wife of Robert for 63 years; beloved mother of Bob (Adrian), Doug (Cyndi), and Craig (Amy); sister of Shirley (David) Grandt, Raymond Chylewski, and Michael (Diana) Chylewski; and grandmother of Shawn, Doug, Raymond, Danielle, Caitlin (Leo), Dane, Cole, Alexis, and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her brother, John.
Cora grew up in Schiller Park and Itasca, IL. She graduated from Lake Park High School and began to work as a secretary. She met her husband Bob when a mutual friend set them up on a blind date, and they were married a year later. After briefly living in Bensenville, Bob and Cora moved to Hoffman Estates, where they raised their three sons. They joined St. Hubert Parish, of which they were parishioners for 62 years. Cora volunteered there teaching CCD and later counting money. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, before returning to work. She and Bob moved to Schaumburg, where they have lived for over thirty years. After retiring, she became a full-time grandma, hosting countless parties and sleepovers, babysitting, and baking for her grandchildren. Cora will forever be remembered for her abundantly warm, generous, patient, and
accepting spirit. She made anyone invited to her home feel instantly like family. Her love language was undoubtedly baked goods and sweets, which she made and brought to nearly every social occasion. She played softball and volleyball in her younger years, and when she wasn't spending time with family, she loved to play cards with friends, sew, crochet, and cross-stitch. Her and her family's homes are decorated with her beautiful artwork. For more information, please call 847-891-2900 or visit www.michaelsfh.com.
