Early this morning, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents reportedly snatched up a Columbia University student from university housing after lying to campus security about their identities.

Students reported that federal agents identified themselves as campus security and New York Police Department officers to get into the building, and the student’s roommate reportedly stated that no warrant was presented.

In a post on X, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal said, “ICE used a phony missing persons bulletin for a 5 year old girl.”

This latest incident took place a day after an anti-ICE student protest on campus and follows a significant increase in ICE’s targeting of protesters exercising their First Amendment rights in recent weeks, as reported by The Intercept.

The Intercept is scrambling to uncover the truth about what happened at Columbia this morning, and we’re counting on your support to help expose ICE’s escalating abuses.
