Last year, we launched the SarcoidosisUK Research Innovation Award as part of a strategy to boost investment in research into sarcoidosis. Very soon, we will be able to announce the successful applicants from last year - legal documentation takes a bit of time.

In the meantime, we are very excited to announce another year of the Award programme, with applications closing at the end of April. We are looking for innovative research proposals focused on sarcoidosis and seeking to address any of the charity’s research priorities:

• Expand the understanding of sarcoidosis.
• Improve diagnosis and prognosis.
• Discover new and better treatments.       
• Address quality of life issues for those living with sarcoidosis.
• Sarcoidosis epidemiology in the UK.

This Rare Disease Day, we're sharing the powerful journey of one of our supporters, Roy. He spoke with us about his experience of living with sarcoidosis and how it has affected him. Roy shares an experience many patients can relate to. 

"The slow diagnosis process was tough. Waiting for blood test and biopsy results can let all sorts of things go through the mind! Post diagnosis, the fatigue and impact on daily life is challenging, I found it difficult to socialise with friends as I felt I was always too tired to join in."

The 23rd of February was National Helplines Awareness Day and we took the opportunity to say thank you to our incredible nurses ✨

They have made over 4,500 calls and provided empathetic sarcoidosis support to patients, their family and friends, carers, and healthcare professionals. National Helpline Awareness Day gives us the opportunity to shine a light on the incredible work our helpline nurses do to provide that much needed extra information and support.

We are pleased to hear that University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has been awarded ‘National Centre of Excellence’ status by WASOG (World Association for Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Disorders).

It’s promising to see ongoing efforts to improve care and collaboration for sarcoidosis and we hope to continue to see further progress and better outcomes for patients and families.
