Dear Churchill Road families,

The school year is speeding by. It is hard to believe we are near the end of the third quarter and approaching spring break!

Our third grade students enjoyed their field trip to Colvin Run Mill, with perfect weather for all the activities.
Our PTA treated staff to a delicious bagel breakfast on St. Patrick’s Day. We are so appreciative.

Looking ahead,

This Friday, students will be released two hours early, at 1:20 p.m., for the end of the quarter. Students will be on spring break from March 30-April 3. Monday, April 6 is a teacher workday. We look forward to seeing our students back on Tuesday, April 7.
Wednesday, April 8 is our kindergarten orientation. We cannot wait to meet our newest students. If you have any neighbors with rising kindergarten students, please have them contact our registrar, Angie Choi. (Details below)
April is the Month of the Military Child, and we will be celebrating our military-connected students and families throughout the month.

Again, we thank everyone for helping us keep our absenteeism rate as low as possible. This time last year we were at 7.8%, now we are at 3.5%. Teachers have instruction planned for this entire week, and we look forward to everyone's attendance through Friday. This is the end of the quarter, so having students here at school enables us all to finish the quarter strong.

Kindergarten and New Student Registrations for 2026-2027 Now Underway

We are now accepting Kindergarten registrations! Students must be 5 years old by September 30th, 2026.

If you know anyone who has a rising kindergartener (or 1^st-6^th student who will attend Churchill Road Elementary), please encourage them to begin registration as soon as possible. Notifying our office of your intent to register or complete registration helps our school secure staffing for the upcoming school year.

If you would like to register your child, begin your Kindergarten and New Student Registration today!

Attendance Matters

Our current chronic absentee rate is 3.5%, compared to 7.8% in 2025.

Student Intentions for the 2026-27 School Year

As the end of this school year approaches, teachers and staff are being made aware of students that are moving or attending another school. If you are not returning to Churchill Road, this Student’s Intention for Next School Year form should be completed for each child ONLY if you are moving or will attend another school. Congratulations 2026 VA K-3 State Champion Team

Congratulations to Churchill Road Chess Team members Vlad I. and Sieon J. Pictured with team coach Albert Anderson, they are the VA State Champion Team in the K-3 Division of the VA Scholastic Championships.

Author Lauren Tarshis "Visits" Churchill Road

On Tuesday, March 10th, Churchill welcomed best-selling author, Lauren Tarshis, for a virtual visit. Students listened to her share about her research process and got a first peak of the first chapter in her upcoming book released in Fall 2026. Thank you to our librarian, Ms. Scott, for arranging this much enjoyed visit.
