Become one ⬇️ Yesterday, the president threatened to commit genocide. “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” he wrote Tuesday morning, congratulating himself for putting an end to “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death.” In the end, Trump grabbed the lifeline thrown out by Pakistan (possibly with some direction from the White House), agreeing to “suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks” and insisting that “we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.” Trump claims the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, although he has made representations about Iran’s position before, only to be immediately contradicted, so … YMMV. But Trump’s latest climbdown won’t undo the damage from his murderous escalation. Republicans and Democrats, along with ordinary Americans, have seen with their own eyes that the president’s erratic behavior isn’t strategic. This is a crazy person, who did a crazy thing, and is likely to do many more crazy things soon. |
