Good morning Wypierdalaj, Today marks the start of a warmup (finally!), but there's also an elevated fire risk for much of southern New England due to a steady and gusty breeze. Other news we're following includes the latest out of the Bahamas where an American man has been arrested after his wife disappeared during a boat trip. Plus, there's growing concerns at Tewksbury State Hospital after an employee was assaulted by a patient so soon after a new security policy went into effect. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines. |

A Massachusetts business owner has pleaded guilty to federal charges accusing her of giving thousands of injections of counterfeit Botox and fillers. Rachael Rollins takes step toward new run for Suffolk County DA |
Former Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins has taken a step toward another run for the office. The office of the secretary of the commonwealth confirmed that Rollins pulled nomination papers, which candidates do when they seek to qualify for the ballot. Rollins served as district attorney for Suffolk County — covering Boston, Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop — from 2018 until the start of 2022, when she stepped down to become Massachusetts’ U.S. attorney. She resigned in May 2023 after federal watchdogs determined that she used her position to influence a local election and lied to investigators. |

| Temps are starting to warm up, and we could hit 80 degrees early next week |
The tide is turning against the cold and today marks the start of the real warmup. Highs will jump back into the mid and upper 50s under more blue skies. There are exceptions to this temp range, however, thanks to the wind direction. From the North Shore to the Seacoast and all of southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, we’ll see highs in the upper 40s due to the southeast wind. |

| Husband arrested in woman's disappearance in Bahamas after he said she fell overboard |
A man who said his wife fell from a boat in the Bahamas has been arrested, his attorney said Thursday, five days after she was reported missing in the Caribbean nation. The Royal Bahamas Police Force previously said a man was arrested in connection with the disappearance of Lynette Hooker, 55. Early Thursday the man arrested was named as Brian Hooker, 59, in a statement from his Bahamas-based attorney, Terrel A. Butler. The statement said Hooker denies any wrongdoing and rejected claims made by Lynette Hooker’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, that it seemed unlikely that her mother would “just fall” overboard. |

Tewksbury State Hospital employee assaulted by patient |
A 59-year-old man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly struck a Tewksbury State Hospital staff member in the face on Tuesday. Tewksbury police said they responded to the hospital around 8 a.m. Tuesday for reports of an aggressive patient. When they got there, officers said they found the male patient had already been secured in a chair by hospital staff. A preliminary investigation determined that the patient had been acting erratically and stood in a fighting stance when hospital staff approached him. The patient then hit a staff member in the face, and it took numerous staff members to restrain and administer medicine to him before police arrived. |

Unions call for North Andover police chief's removal, citing Kelsey Fitzsimmons case |
Police unions in North Andover, Massachusetts, are calling for the removal of Police Chief Charles Gray, citing the controversial Kelsey Fitzsimmons case as one reason. The North Andover Patrol Officers and Sergeants’ unions announced Wednesday morning that they had passed a vote of no confidence in Gray and called for his immediate removal. The Eagle-Tribune was the first to report the news. “We can no longer remain silent while operating under a toxic culture of vindictiveness and professional stagnation,” the union members said in a statement. “This vote is not about wages, benefits or other traditional labor issues – it is the unavoidable consequence of years of failed leadership, no leadership, and outright inaction. Sadly, the current turmoil faced by our officers was both foreseeable and avoidable.” |
