Plesiosaur
Pronunciation: PLEE-see-uh-saw
Star quality: The plesiosaurs survived in one form or another for more than 140 million years, making it through multiple extinctions that saw many other species get wiped out.
Time period: Existed from around 208.5 million to 66 million years ago, but most fossils come from the Jurassic Period.

Ichthyosaur
Pronunciation: ICK-thee-OH-sore
Star quality: Some ichthyosaurs may have had eyes more than 22 centimetres in diameter. That’s more than twice the size of a blue whale’s eye!
Time period: Existed during the Mesozoic Era, from around 252 million to 94 million years ago.

Mosasaur
Pronunciation: MOH-sah-sores
Star quality: Evidence suggests that some species of mosasaur lived in saltwater while others lived in freshwater. This meant they were well adapted to spread into new areas and climates all over the world!
Time period: Existed during the Late Cretaceous Period, which lasted from around 100 million to 66 million years ago.

Marine crocodile
Pronunciation: muh-REEN KROK-uh-dahyl
Star quality: Some of these fierce crocs could grow up to a staggering 7.5 metres in length!
Time period: Existed from the Early Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous, roughly 200 million to 145 million years ago.
