Yeah, I finally checked out that trail you recommended last weekend. The weather was perfect — not too hot, just a nice breeze the whole way up. I actually got there earlier than I expected around 7 AM and there were only a couple of cars in the lot. The wildflowers along the ridge were incredible, purple and yellow patches everywhere. I stopped for about twenty minutes at the summit just to take it all in. There is a little stream crossing about halfway up that you have to step over, so waterproof boots are a good call. I brought way too many snacks though, ended up carrying half of them back down. Next time I will pack lighter. The whole loop took me about three hours with breaks. Let me know if you want to go again soon — I would be happy to do it again while the weather holds.
Have you tried any of the other routes in that park yet? I saw a sign for a longer loop that goes around the far ridge and I am curious about it. A few people I passed mentioned it has some pretty steep sections but the views at the top are supposed to be even better than the standard trail. Might be worth trying next weekend if you are up for a challenge.

I finally started reading that novel my cousin gave me for my birthday last month. I was honestly a bit skeptical at first because the premise sounded so strange, but now I am completely hooked. The main character has this really unique voice that pulls you in from the first chapter. I have been staying up way too late the past few nights because I keep telling myself one more page and then suddenly an hour has passed. The way the author describes the setting makes you feel like you are actually there, which is something I really appreciate in a book. I am about two-thirds of the way through now and I still cannot predict how it is going to end, which is refreshing.
Have you read anything good lately? I am going to need a new recommendation as soon as I finish this one. My cousin also mentioned that the author has a second book coming out later this year, so I might pre-order that if the ending holds up. There is something about getting lost in a well-written story that I have missed — it has been a while since I made time for reading just for fun.
