Message from Mr. Greata
Dear Woodson Community,
We are flying through May! Thank you all for your continued patience, flexibility, and hard work as we navigate this busy season of the school year.
Our spring testing window continues this week. I want to extend a massive thank you to our incredible teachers for their support in proctoring these exams and supervising our non-testing students. Please note that on Tuesday and Wednesday, we will have the adjusted testing schedule to allow for an extended testing block in the morning, and then we will return to our regular schedule on Thursday.
I want to give a huge shoutout to our leadership students for inviting me to be a part of the school talent show. I was beaming with pride watching the incredible amount of talent we have under this roof. Congratulations to all of our fantastic performers. A major shoutout to Maggie Hardwick (for her incredible rendition of Radiohead's "High and Dry") and Anas Babech (for his amazing dance routine), who tied for 1st place! You both absolutely crushed it.
We have officially reached the last full week of classes for our seniors! Senior exams begin this Wednesday. We also kicked off our end-of-the-year celebrations today during lunches with our Celebrate Your Plan Day! It was wonderful seeing our seniors share their future steps—whether they are heading to college, joining the military, or pursuing a trade. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them, and we can’t wait to watch the Class of 2026 walk across the stage on June 4 at Eaglebank Arena.
We have some massive accomplishments to celebrate this week as well. A huge congratulations to Ethan Lee (Biochemistry) and James Ngo (Computer Science) for winning National Merit Scholarships, which are extremely competitive! Additionally, congratulations to seniors Peyton Farrell and Dag Guessford for earning scholarships through the ACE Mentor Program! This program connects students with experts in architecture, construction, and engineering to provide hands-on career training.
District tournament play rolls on this week with athletics! Our student-athletes are giving it their all, and we want to show them our support. For the most up-to-date game schedules and brackets, please visit woodsonsports.com. Let’s get out there and cheer on our teams!
Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Morning Attendance Notifications Will Continue During Spring Assessments
Morning attendance calls, texts, and e-mail notifications will continue throughout the AP, IB, and SOL testing windows this spring.
The purpose of continuing these notifications is to prioritize student safety and timely notification of families regarding student absences.
Finish the School Year With Strong Attendance!
As we enter the final weeks of the school year, Fairfax County Public Schools appreciates your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.
Attending school consistently also helps students build valuable habits such as responsibility, perseverance, and daily routines that support success both in and out of the classroom.
If your child needs to miss school, please remember to report the absence. Full-day absences can be reported in ParentVUE.
If your child is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, we are here to help. Please contact your child’s school so staff can partner with you to provide support and resources. Learn more about attendance resources.
