May 2026 - The Spark

Hi there —

I recently took some time off and had one very specific realization somewhere between ignoring my inbox and sitting outside doing absolutely nothing productive: it’s a lot easier to relax when you’re not secretly convinced everything’s falling apart without you.

A few years ago, I probably would’ve spent the entire trip “quickly checking things” every couple hours (very guilty as charged). But this time felt different. My team knew where things were left off. Client conversations had already been handed off. Follow-ups were tracked. Notes weren’t buried in inboxes or lost somewhere in the Drive.

And that made unplugging way easier than I expected.

Because most workdays already feel like a constant revolving door of emails, reviewing drafts, following up with partners, and trying to focus before another notification pulls you somewhere else.

That’s kind of the problem. When your work is scattered across tabs, inboxes, docs, and mental reminders, stepping away feels stressful because everything depends on you remembering where it all lives.

Good systems change that. When your team can open one place and instantly see the latest conversation, next step, or project update, work keeps moving — even while you’re offline pretending your inbox doesn’t exist.

If taking a real break feels hard, your work might just need a better home (maybe try Copper…).

Today’s spark

Hopefully something in here helped you rethink a system or two, or reminded you that stepping away from work shouldn’t feel impossible.

'Til next time!
