It's this corner of TikTok where users passionately talk about the books they're obsessing over, air grievances about plot twists and generally just gather to talk about books. You know, like a bookstore. But BookTok has proven tremendously influential to the book industry, catapulting authors to the top of the NYT bestseller list. And Hollywood has taken notice. "Heated Rivalry" is one BookTok-famous adaptation that exploded last fall, and now Prime Video has "Off Campus," a smutty co-ed romance that's already blowing up on social after debuting last week on the streamer. It's one of several BookTok and YA adaptations on Prime Video's slate, and our Loree Seitz dove into the streamer's winning strategy of leveraging BookTok fandom into popular series, especially in the wake of hit "The Summer I Turned Pretty," which concluded last year but is getting a movie continuation. “These are some of the most engaged, passionate audiences in entertainment,” Amazon TV head Peter Friedlander told TheWrap, offering insight into their growing and diverse slate of adaptations.
