Good afternoon Cedar Lane Community,
Today marks a massive milestone for our community: it is officially the final regular day of high school for our seniors! As our seniors walk out of the building today, they leave behind years of hard work, growth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We are incredibly proud of the resilient, talented, and kind individuals they have become. To the Class of 2026—congratulations on reaching this moment. You have left a lasting mark on Cedar Lane, and we cannot wait to see where your journey takes you next.
While today is their final official day of classes, we still have a few crucial steps before the big day. Please ensure our graduates have the following dates marked on their calendars:
-
Graduation Rehearsal: Next Thursday, May 28th at 8:00-11 am.
-
The Main Event: Our Graduation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 12:00 PM in the Cedar Lane Gymnasium.
As we celebrate our seniors, a quick reminder to our underclassmen that the school year isn't quite over yet! Let's channel that senior success energy into our own final weeks of classes and projects. Keep pushing hard—the finish line is in sight for everyone!
With immense pride in our seniors and excitement for their next chapter,
The Staff of Cedar Lane School

Important Graduation Details for Families
We are thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2026 on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, with our graduation ceremony beginning promptly at 12:00 P.M. Participating seniors should arrive at the school by 10:45 A.M. to prepare for the festivities. Please be aware that there will be no bus transportation provided on this day, so families must arrange for their students' arrival. To ensure a smooth entry, please remember to bring your physical tickets, as they will be checked at the door. Each student is currently allotted five tickets; however, if your family requires additional tickets, please contact Mr. Rehrig to make a request. Furthermore, if any of your guests require special seating accommodations for the hearing impaired or those with physical impairments, please notify Mr. Rehrig as soon as possible so we can ensure everyone is comfortable.
Regarding logistics, we kindly ask that all guests park in the side lot rather than the main lot in front of the school to assist with traffic flow. Please note that student caps and gowns are currently being kept at Cedar Lane for the ceremony. For those attending, restrooms are conveniently located within the gymnasium. If you have family members who cannot join us in person, the entire event will be live-streamed for remote viewing. Additionally, a professional photographer will be on-site to capture this milestone, and information regarding picture orders will be provided during the event. We look forward to a wonderful day celebrating our graduates!

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has released its annual College Openings Update. This voluntary listing features NACAC-member postsecondary institutions that are still accepting applications from prospective first-year and transfer students for the fall 2026 semester.
Students and families are encouraged to use this tool to search for colleges that still have space available. Users may narrow down the list of schools by state and view whether a school still has financial aid and available student housing. Please note that this list is updated daily.
Additionally, NACAC has created a waiver request form for enrollment deposit fees that some institutions will consider for students experiencing significant financial hardship. Learn more about the enrollment deposit fee waiver and eligibility. Students and families may contact their school counselor and college and career specialist with any questions.
Students who still need assistance applying for federal or state financial aid can schedule a free appointment with our partners at College Access Fairfax by emailing appointments@CollegeAccessFairfax.org. Support provided by your school or College Access Fairfax is free.

Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance
It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.
If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.
