Dear CES Friends and Families,
It has been another exciting week at Columbia ES!
Earlier this week, we enjoyed one last visit from our newest friends, the “lambmowers.” All students had the opportunity to visit with the lambs near the picnic tables out front, and it was a wonderful experience for our Columbia Cougars.
We also completed our grade-level SOL testing this week under the direction of Ms. Boudart and Ms. Dumont. I would like to personally acknowledge and applaud their exemplary leadership, thoughtful planning, and successful coordination of these assessments. Thank you to all of the teachers, staff members, and volunteers who helped make this a very successful testing season for our school!
As a reminder, there will be no school Monday through Wednesday of next week due to holidays and a teacher workday. We look forward to welcoming all of our Columbia Cougars back to school on Thursday, May 28.

 Field Day is June 12 — and we need your help to make it happen!
Field Day is one of the most beloved traditions of the school year. Students rotate through outdoor activity stations - think relay races, team challenges, and plenty of movement - all organized and run by parent volunteers. It's a fun, low-key way to be involved, and the kids absolutely love seeing familiar faces cheering them on. We're looking for parents to help run stations throughout the day. No experience needed; just enthusiasm!

Girls on the Run Success!
Last weekend, the Girls on the Run club concluded their spring season with a 5K race, including family, friends and runners from around the area. We would like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Garay and all the staff that supported the girls throughout the program. Great job, Cougars!

Check Lunch Balances
It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.
If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.
