Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met today with Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov in Washington, D.C. Deputy Secretary Landau and Foreign Minister Meredov discussed the continued expansion of commercial ties, including several pending U.S. business opportunities in Turkmenistan. The Deputy Secretary expressed support for the diversification of Turkmenistan’s energy exports, including through Trans-Caspian routes. The two officials agreed on the importance of deepening economic and security cooperation between our two countries.
