A severe thunderstorm warning issued on Sunday should have been enough to cancel a children’s church event in LaSalle that turned fatal, according to an Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist and a bouncy castle operator.
Three-year-old Ava Ciampini died of injuries sustained when a bouncy castle blew away in an abrupt windstorm at the event in Ouellette Park.
The incident has shattered the little girl’s family and community, The Gazette's Leora Schertzer reports, raising questions about safety protocols and regulations for children’s inflatable play structures.
