We have been going back and forth about where to go for the weekend and I think we finally settled on the lake area. The drive is about three hours but the scenery along the way makes it worthwhile. We found a spot that has decent reviews and allows campfires which is important since we plan to cook over the fire. I will bring the tent and sleeping bags and if you could bring the cooler with drinks and snacks that would be great. We should also figure out who is bringing the cooking equipment because I have a portable stove but it is not the biggest one. The weather forecast looks good for the weekend so hopefully it stays that way. There is also a trail nearby that we can hike in the morning before it gets too hot. Let me know if you want to invite anyone else because we have room for a couple more people if needed. I think we should leave early Saturday morning to beat the traffic and get a good spot before the crowd arrives.

Also I wanted to ask about the firewood situation because I am not sure if we can gather wood at the site or if we need to bring our own. I have a small axe and some starter logs but not enough for two nights. If you have a source for seasoned wood let me know and we can split the cost. I will also bring some marshmallows and skewers because no camping trip is complete without that. Let me know your thoughts on the food plan because I can stop at the store on Friday to pick up anything we are missing.

I finally got around to reading that book you recommended last month and I have to say it was quite engaging from start to finish. The way the author develops the characters over time really drew me into the story. There were a few twists that I did not see coming which made it even more enjoyable. I can see why you thought I would like it because the pacing and the themes are right up my alley. Have you read any other books by the same author because I would be interested in checking those out too. I heard there might be a sequel in the works but I am not sure if that has been confirmed yet. The next time we meet up we should discuss the ending because I have some thoughts about how things wrapped up and I would love to hear your perspective.
