Hey thanks for checking in. I finally got around to repotting that Monstera last weekend and it made such a difference. The roots were totally bound up and now it has room to breathe. I also moved it to a spot that gets more indirect light in the afternoon. Honestly it already looks perkier. The rest of the weekend was pretty mellow — caught up on some reading and made a batch of lentil soup from scratch. I used smoked paprika and a little cumin and it turned out way better than I expected. Let me know if you want the rough recipe I kind of winged it but I can write down what I did. Also I finally tried that new bouldering gym near the market and the routes were fun but really tough on the forearms. I might go back Wednesday if you want to join.
Anyway hope your week started well. Talk soon.

Oh I finally watched that documentary you mentioned about the history of color pigments. It was so good. I had no idea that ultramarine was once more expensive than gold and that artists would reserve it only for the most important figures in a painting. The whole section on synthetic versus natural dyes was fascinating too especially how the first aniline dyes were completely accidental discoveries. It made me want to dig out my old watercolor set and try mixing some colors from scratch using natural ingredients like turmeric and red cabbage. I even looked up a tutorial on making ink from oak galls which seems both incredibly old-school and kind of satisfying.
Anyway thanks for the recommendation it really scratched that history nerd itch I have been having. If you hear of any similar deep dives on textiles or ceramics I would love to know. Hope you are having a good week so far.
