Hey, I finally got around to watching that documentary you recommended last month about the history of bread baking. I had no idea how much science went into it. The way they explained fermentation and the different types of ancient grains was totally eye-opening. I actually tried making a sourdough starter afterwards. It felt a bit like a science experiment in my kitchen. The first few days it did nothing, and I thought I ruined it. But by day five it was bubbling away nicely. I baked my first loaf yesterday and it was actually edible, which was a relief. The crust was a little thick but the inside was soft. I'm going to try adding some rosemary and sea salt next time. Let me know if you have any other recommendations, I really enjoyed this one. It's nice to watch something that is both relaxing and educational at the same time.
I might try that Italian one you mentioned about olive oil next. I appreciate the suggestions.

I spent the whole weekend rearranging my home office and it feels like a completely new space. I moved my desk closer to the window so I can get more natural light during the day. I also got a couple of those low-maintenance indoor plants, a snake plant and a pothos, to add some green. It makes a huge difference to the atmosphere. I finally hung up some framed prints that were leaning against the wall for months. One of them is a minimalist map of the city where we went to college. It brings back good memories. I organized all my cables with little clips and ties so they aren't dangling everywhere anymore.
Honestly, it felt good to just focus on a simple physical project for a change. It's amazing how much clutter I had accumulated without realizing it. I feel way more focused just sitting in there now. Maybe I'll actually get some writing done this week.
