Who makes Tampa Bay’s best Caesar salad?

If you love a Caesar salad as much as our senior food and dining critic Helen Freund does, this list is for you.

From ultra-traditional versions to creative innovations on the classic dish, these are her top picks.

AROUND THE BAY

Tampa police chief retires: Lee Bercaw wrote that he’s been offered “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to work as an associate professor at USF.

Regarding funding: The Tampa Sports Authority asked in a letter to Hillsborough County that the county ensures any deal with the Rays does not hamstring future funding for Raymond James Stadium. Read it here.

Demographics: Well over a million international students are enrolled at American colleges and universities, with more than half a million in Florida. Here’s a look at their economic impact.

July 4 nears: Could Safety Harbor relocate its fireworks show over nesting bird concerns?

Free admission: Ahead of the upcoming Ye shows in Tampa, the Florida Holocaust Museum is speaking out — and offering an alternative activity for the concert weekend.

Possible death sentence: A Tampa jury heard from the only surviving witness to the brutal stabbings of a mother and her teenage daughter on Tuesday.

Have you seen him? Tampa police are searching for a man they say intentionally struck a security guard with his car before driving off.

People’s choice: Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a bill putting the decision to make the superintendent's position elected on the ballot this fall.

Voters will decide: DeSantis also signed a bill that proposes reshaping Hillsborough's Board of County Commissioners. What could change?

Fifth round of funding: The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has been approved for $1.25 million for immigration enforcement software.

Teaching two courses: St. Petersburg legislator Darryl Rouson is being hired by New College of Florida as its presidential scholar and professor of trial litigation.

SPORTS

Still putting up zeroes: The Rays pitching staff may be looking like a revolving door lately with 19 different pitchers over the last 13 games, but there's usually a method to Tampa Bay's madness, sports columnist John Romano writes.

Confidence in the cornerback: Zyon McCollum, at age 27 and in only his fifth season, is suddenly the elder statesman of the Bucs secondary group after Jamel Dean signed with the Steelers.

My Favorite Florida with Billy Corben

Documentarian Billy Corben launched his career with the cult classic “Cocaine Cowboys” about Florida drug smugglers. But his favorite slices of the Sunshine State include roadside business cards and space shuttle launches. Plus: routinely running into one of the Watergate burglars?
