| | "It wasn't an incident until the gunfire started," Jane Kelvey said. Credit: Jane and Alan Kelvey | Retired British couple Jane and Alan Kelvey were sailing their yacht in international waters in the English Channel when they encountered a Russian warship, the Admiral Grigorovich. The frigate's crew blew the horn - and then they fired into the air. Russia said the yacht was making a "dangerous approach" - but the couple deny this; they told the BBC the experience was "surreal" and the British PM has labelled Russia's actions as "reckless". The incident comes amid heightened tensions between the UK and Russia - over the weekend, Marines intercepted a Russian shadow fleet tanker carrying sanctioned oil in the Channel. |

| BEYOND THE HEADLINES | The joy of recovery in the Ebola zone |
| | | "Grace has been shown to us; grace has been shown to patients," healthcare workers sang. Credit: BBC | The deadly virus may have been spreading undetected for months in DR Congo. And since it kills one in five people infected, getting to those who are sick is critical. But it is possible to survive the virus: celebrations at a treatment centre are a sign of that, writes the BBC's Anne Soy. These happy health workers have already been able to send some recovered patients home after their ordeal. As they escorted survivor Daniel Kitambala from the clinic, the medical staff broke into an impromptu song and dance of joy - and relief. |
