The 14-point memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran, provided to NBC News by a senior U.S. official, declares an intent to bring about an “immediate and permanent termination of military operations,” including in Lebanon, and a commitment to further talks toward a more substantive “final deal.”

The agreement stipulates that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen immediately, and that the U.S. will “terminate all types of sanctions” and begin the removal of its naval blockade of Iran’s ports.
